Where DOES the time go?

Funny how earlier this week I found myself idly considering the fact that I should update this thing and realized that it had been a whole month since I last did so. ...Oops. ^_^

Not too much news, for all my lengthy absence. Still in Japan. Still crazy-busy at work, still peeved at my company. Still obsessed with anime. Still obsessed with Gundam SEED, actually. (That's gotta be some kind of record.) Still lacking in the skills necessary for maintaining correspondence. Still suffering through Japanese summer and still dealing with the insect life this season brings out. (Oh, joy! The cicadas have come out!) In other words, my life is same-old, same-old and I'm my usual cranky/cheerful fangirly self. ^_^

And before I forget, since I have consistently forgotten to say this before now... For those of you who haven't already heard this from me somewhere else, I'll be leaving Japan in August for about a month. I'm going HOME! *bouncing* I am SO excited. Not only do I have almost a month off (EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!) but I'm going home for a pair of weddings. (My sister and seryan, respectively.) As a result, the first two weeks or so of my "vacation" won't really be much of one, what with all the running around and dealing with people I'm going to have to do... but it's all for a good cause. And I get to flake out and just enjoy being home for what remains of my time off afterwards. I have a feeling that coming BACK here will nearly kill me - I was almost in tears when I left home at Christmastime, tears of the "OMG I hate this and I hate my job don't make me go back please I don't wanna go!" variety - but I haven't really got anything else to do or any other prospects at the moment. I really ought to get off my ass and find something.

As I said before, I haven't really been up to much, per se, just sort of running around and hanging out with people. It's been a lot of fun, actually. And I'm finding myself a more active participant in fandom than I have EVER been before. See, up until now I've been pretty much a dyed-in-the-wool lurker, who had vague aspirations of maybe someday writing some semi-decent fanfiction. And now I find myself involved in a partnership/conspiracy of sorts with rhole, producing floofy Naruto fic (pre-massacre Uchiha fic, to be precise). Well, stories AND pictures, actually, but she's soley responsible for that end as I can't draw stick figures without making them look mutated. And while it's an unusual and unexpected experience, I'm thoroughly enjoying it and thanks for dragging me along for the ride, rhole! *beaming* And my other new hobby appears to be dreaming up crack!AU storylines for Gundam SEED. With unrepentant enabling from a few friends, naturally. (Though Fifthdragon has GOT to take the bulk of the blame for THIS particular set of ideas, I think.) ^_~

And that ought to be quite enough out of me for now, I think. ^_^
